"Teddy Roosevelt's Nobel Peace Prize" Meredith NH - November 07, 2012

Charles Doleac, founder of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forum presents the NH Humanities Council-sponsored illustrated talk on the Treaty, NH citizen diplomacy and how local citizens helped President Theodore Roosevelt earn the Nobel Peace Prize for orchestrating the negotiations that ended "World War Zero" (the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05). Free. 6:30 pm. Presented by the Meredith Public Library, 91 Main Street, Meredith NH.

  The Portsmouth Peace Treaty Trail Maps (#1-5) contained on this page detail the locations in Portsmouth and around New England that featured in the 1905 negotiations and citizen diplomacy.
The Treaty Articles Maps (#6-11) show the geographic areas impacts by the various articles of the Treaty, the focus of the negotiations.
  The War Maps (#12-15) show the contested areas in Korea, Manchuria and the Straits of Tsushima, where the Russo-Japanese War was fought 1904-05.
