TALK: Portsmouth Peace Treaty Nobel Peace Prize - September 05, 2010
Immediately after the bell-ringing at 3:47 pm that annually marks the moment the Portsmouth Peace Treaty was signed, Charles Doleac, chairman and founder of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forum presents his illustrated NH Humanities Council talk on "Theodore Roosevelt's Nobel Peace Prize" explaining how citizen diplomacy in New Hampshire helped TR -- who did not come to Portsmouth for the negotiations ending the Russo-Japanese War -- earn the 1906 Prize. Free and open to the public. 4 pm at the Discover Portsmouth Center, corner of Middle and Islington Streets, downtown Portsmouth. |
