Chorus Boston is a mixed-voice international chorus specializing in traditional and modern Japanese choral music. The repertoire includes classical, traditional and modern Western choral works. Founded in 1997 by Noriko Sakamaki, the Chorus performs two annual concerts in the Boston area and has performed with visiting Japanese artists, most recently at Carnegie Hall with Kyoichi Kitamura and the University Glee Club of Tokyo. The chorus regularly performs at events sponsored by the Japanese Association of Greater Boston as well as other public and private events and is a member of the greater Boston Choral consortium, a cooperative association of diverse choral groups in Boston and surrounding areas.
Chorus Boston welcomes new members throughout its season. The membership consists of people of all ages, occupations and backgrounds who share a common interest in Japan and the Japanese language. The steeple of North Church is the city's icon and on August 5, 1905, the church held an International Peace Service in anticipation of the delegates' arrival on August 8th.
